Dr. Sheena Smith is the owner and sole practioner at InnerSource Counseling. Sheena is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a master's degree in social work and doctorate degree in clinical psychology. Sheena is a board qualified supervisor in the state of Florida.

Primary focus of treatment includes include stress and life transitions, grief and loss, complex childhood trauma, posttraumatic stress disorder, narcissistic abuse, co-dependency and attachment concerns, parenting concerns, divorce/separation, and other family/relationship issues. Additional issues of treatment include adult ADHD, OCD, anger management, self-esteem, depression and mood disorders, anxiety, insomnia, and chronic pain/illness.
It takes a lot of courage to seek help and Sheena strives to facilitate a safe and comfortable environment for clients. Her approach to therapy is empathetic and caring, holistic, client-centered, strengths-based, and individually tailored to meet each person's specific needs.
As a former Texan and Oklahoman now residing in the Tampa Bay area, Sheena has 19 years of experience in social services and mental health treatment. She has had the privilege of working with clients from many different backgrounds. In addition to private practice, Sheena previously worked in community-based behavioral healthcare agencies, nonprofit organizations, school systems, hospitals and residential treatment facilities, joint active-duty military and veteran mental health clinics, pain management clinics, and elderly care facilities. She has worked directly with domestic violence, education, autism, and foster care.
Sheena has a passion for humanitarian work, specialized in African studies, and traveled globally to provide aid to children and mothers in poverty. She has published research on child development and parenting. She has led teams in disaster relief and served in leadership for programs offering transitional housing, veteran housing, and low-income housing. Sheena completed law enforcement academy and became a certified law enforcement officer in the state of Texas to better serve victims of crime and domestic violence. She has led clinical teams, provided clinical supervision, offered professional development and community psychoeducational trainings and coaching sessions, developed social services programs, and served on community boards. She continues to remain current with the latest research and interventions in the mental health field.
Sheena is able to implement a wide-scale of clinical, research-informed therapeutic interventions. She has completed training courses (non-certified) in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT, CBT-I, TF-CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Brainspotting, Exposure-Therapy, Mindfulness-based Therapy, Inner-Child Work, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Hypnotherapy, Positive Psychology, Nutrition & Mental Health Interventions, along with many additional modalities and areas of treatment. Sheena is able to assess for and provide written diagnostic reports for military service-related PTSD. She is trained in assessing for and completing qualifying letters for Emotional Support Animals (ESA's) for clients actively engaged in treatment.
